Timothy J. Wisniewski, Ph.D.
Timothy J. Wisniewski earned an undergraduate degree in Biology at Syracuse University in 1989. He went on to earn his doctorate in Biology at Syracuse University in 1998 with a specialization in Evolutionary Biology. Dr. Wisniewski continued with his studies in the field of Psychology in a doctoral program at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). While pursuing a doctorate in psychology, he provided evaluation and treatment in multiple clinical and forensic settings. He also taught as an adjunct professor and published original research in the area of Evolutionary Psychology. Dr. Wisniewski earned his second doctorate in Clinical Psychology from UMBC in 2006. As a postdoctoral fellow he trained professionals at sites across Maryland in Motivational Interviewing to enhance client outcomes as part of a community collaboration between UMBC and the Maryland AIDS Administration.
In 2007, Dr. Wisniewski began work as an Associate Psychologist with the New York State Office of Mental Health, Division of Forensics Services in the Bureau of Sex Offender Evaluation and Treatment. He was licensed in the field of psychology in the state of New York in 2008. At that time, he was promoted to Psychiatric Examiner, and his duties included evaluation of individuals under New York’s Sex Offender Management and Treatment Act and provided expert testimony with regard to his findings. During this time period, Dr. Wisniewski also worked at Forensic Mental Health Associates providing treatment to outpatient sex offenders. He has provided trainings on the evaluation and treatment of sex offenders both to sites within the Office of Mental Health and to programs across New York State. In 2012, he went into private practice and helped form New Paradigm Psychological Services, PLLC in Albany, New York. This practice specializes in the evaluation and treatment of adult sexual offenders.
